Otsuka Ai
Otsuka Ai (大塚愛)

official website: http://www.avexnet.or.jp/ai/

Although her first single "Momo no Hanabira" (桃ノ花ビラ) was released in September of 2003, it wasn't until her 2nd single Sakuranbo (さくらんぼ) that she became a sensation. As of 2006, she has released a total of 3 albums as well as numerous singles. She also starred in in the drama "Tokyo Friends."

At the moment of this writing, she is one of my favorite artists; mainly due to a unique combination of her lyrics, song composition, and personality. My personal favorites among her compositions are Haneari Tamago (羽ありたまご), Amaenbo (甘えんぼ) and Friends (フレンズ).

Hurricane (ハリケーン)

Lyrics:
English:
a calm, unconcerned day draws on
I'm happy with you, the two of us together..
I don't have any complaints.
and yet, the overflowing drops of dreams
there is a feeling I cannot completely hide

even losing the warmth,
there's a place I long to reach

goodbye, once we grow up,
we can laugh about it together
the wind gathered at the horizon,
the night hurricane was born

looking up at the clear sky,
I bit down on my lips
I want to keep shining, even being hurt and shedding tears

painful things, perplexing things, to cry out until my voice dies..
to want, to be blue, to be engulfed in love

goodbye, once we started walking someday
I will not look back never, ever again
I'm just like a hurricane
I'll run amidst the light and shadow

Goodbye, once we become older,
we can laugh about it together
the wind gathered at the horizon,
The night hurricane was born
