Although her first single "Momo no Hanabira" (桃ノ花ビラ) was released in September of 2003, it wasn't until her 2nd single Sakuranbo (さくらんぼ) that she became a sensation. As of 2006, she has released a total of 3 albums as well as numerous singles. She also starred in in the drama "Tokyo Friends."
At the moment of this writing, she is one of my favorite artists; mainly due to a unique combination of her lyrics, song composition, and personality. My personal favorites among her compositions are Haneari Tamago (羽ありたまご), Amaenbo (甘えんぼ) and Friends (フレンズ).

Lyrics:
tachidomatte subete wo mu ni shita
standing still, everything had become undone
me wo sorashite nigeteta koto wo
I averted my eyes, ashamed of the things I had ran away from
hajiratte mukai au koto ga dekitara
If I could have faced things and met them head on,
kiseki wo shinjita
I'd have believed in miracles
semi wa naku hibiku you ni
the cicada's chirp resonates,
utau you ni shinde iku kana
as if in song, I wonder if they will die and fade away?
watashi mo ashita kieru nara motto
If I too, were to disappear tomorrow,
chanto ireru no kana?
I wonder if it would be for the best?
koko ni tatte iru koto sae
even standing in this place,
tokidoki ishiki wo ushinai sou ni naru
sometimes I feel as if I am drifting in and out of consciousness
kumori sora, nakuna mada koko wa tsuukaten de
cloudy skies, don’t you cry – this is only a stepping stone on your journey
kumori sora, nakuna kokoro wa hontou wa tsuyoi
cloudy skies, don’t you cry – the heart truly is strong
fuwafuwa nagareru you ni
like the wispy clouds streaming by,
nanto naku sugoseru keredo
somehow or other (these days) will pass...
hontou wa munashii koto ni wa zutto
this feeling of emptiness is truly
mae kara kizuiteta
something I have felt for a long time
kizu wo motte mou ichidotte
having already been wounded, I said to myself I'd try once more
tsuyoku chikae jibun wo misuteruna
vowing not to abandon myself
kumori sora, nakuna semete kokoro wo shinjite
cloudy skies, don’t you cry – at least, believe in your heart
kumori sora, nakuna matteru hito wa iru
cloudy skies, don’t you cry – there are people waiting for you
shinkai no naka wo kururi oyoide
round and round, swimming in the ocean deep
kikoeru mizu no koe omoidasu
I remember hearing the sound of water
ano ame no hi mo konna kurakute
even on that rainy day,
futatsu aru tobira
were two doors of so much darkness
kumori sora, nakuna mada koko wa tsuukaten de
cloudy skies, don’t you cry – this is only a stepping stone on your journey
kumori sora, nakuna kokoro wa hontou wa tsuyoi
cloudy skies, don’t you cry – the heart truly is strong
kumori sora, nakuna mada koko wa tsuukaten de
cloudy skies, don’t you cry – this is only a stepping stone on your journey
kumori sora, nakuna kokoro wa hontou wa tsuyoi
cloudy skies, don’t you cry – the heart truly is strong
tachidomatte subete wo mu ni shita
standing still, everything had become undone

I'd have believed in miracles
