Why?

This site is a personal project and as such, the hours spent coding and adjusting the site have been spent solely by me. It's a one person operation, folks! That is why there aren't daily updates. I've got a life y'know!

The history behind it all

vllasko.com was created in 2001 almost by accident. I had started to write various essays and poems for recreation and decided to post them online for some of my friends to read and critique. A few months later, I found some free time to spend learning HTML, PHP, MySQL and other web technologies and put together a site with more depth. I eventually purchased a domain name and the rest of the content and site just sort of trickled in through the past years. All underlying code and the design and as well as layout was done by me.

What is with the name?

The name vllasko came from an Internet handle I started using in 1999. It was a name that was unique on the Internet as it started with 3 letters that normally don't go together in the English language. Oh yeah, and most important of all, it's never taken when I want a screenname for an IM service or username on a site(although I don't use it for those things).^^

Version One

This is the very first evolution of vllasko.com. It was purely content based with a few graphical header images to add some color. Overall, a very simple project and at the time this site was merely a minor hobby/novelty.

Version Two

This is the second evolution of vllasko.com created in July 2002. It's pretty basic and I didn't really put much thought into layout or graphics as I was trying to convert the contents of the site over to PHP and SQL.

Version Three

This is the third evolution of vllasko.com put together in September of 2002. The first serious renovation which included the obvious visual improvements as well as a structured layout over the PHP and MySQL framework.

Version Four

The fourth evolution of vllasko.com appeared in October of 2002. Mainly, it involved a refreshing new look and color scheme although there was a lot of tweaking of code and addition of small features during this time.

Version Five

This is fifth version of vllasko.com. It was really nothing special and was a layout I'd rather forget about. Obviously not my fondest layout as it seemed to me to be a step backward from version 4. The picture itself was very beautiful and I loved it a lot but the complementing elements to the design just weren't "clicking" with me too well.

Version Six

This is probably the most prominent of the layouts I've had since the inception of vllasko.com. I liked it enough to have it for 1.5 years. It was the first abstract layout I've had and will probably be a trendsetter for many of my future versions (as we can see from the abstract nature of version 7). It was hard to change from this layout as I had become extremely attached to it. In any case, it's gone...
